Kole Basava
The Kole Basava tradition is seen even today across South India. Here, the bulls are decorated with multi-colored embellishments. The master demonstrates a trick, and the bull nods its head to answer Yes or No. The master performs many skits while he plays the Nagaswara (pipe music) and the Dolu (drum), and the bull does the enactment. The most common skit performed is Seeta-Rama Kalyana (the marriage of Lord Rama and Seeta) using a bull and a cow. It is indeed colorful to see the cow and bull adorned with colorful clothes, bells, and ribbons, and they are mostly from the Indian breed. The Kole Basava and the enactment is a feast to eyes and entertaining.
